Missouri bride-to-be killed in head-on crash

Many brides-to-be celebrate the end of their single lives by gathering with friends for a bachelorette party. Sadly, one young woman from Missouri never made it to her bachelorette celebration that was supposed to be held earlier this month in the Lake of the Ozarks.

On the way to the event, the 26-year-old woman was involved in ahead-on collision when a car driven by her best friend and maid of honor stuck a pickup truck on Missouri Highway 5 near Prairie Valley Road.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, the accident occurred on Friday, June 20, around 3 p.m., just a few minutes after the bride-to-be shared a “selfie” of the two women smiling and singing along to the radio.

According to the best friend, she decided to pass semi-trucks on the highway ahead of them that were emitting heavy fumes because they were making the bride-to-be, who suffers from asthma, cough.

The friend said both women looked ahead and thought the road was clear before she attempted to pass.

Unfortunately, they did not see a hill, which an oncoming pickup truck crested just after the women’s car pulled into the other lane to pass. The car and the pickup attempted to swerve to avoid hitting each other but the pickup struck the car on the passenger side, where the bachelorette was sitting.

The best friend, who only suffered minor injuries in the accident, said she did not realize the gravity of the bride-to-be’s injuries because she was still conscious and “she wasn't physically super beaten-up."

However, the 26-year-old woman died less than three hours later at University Hospital in Columbia.

The accident victim, who was supposed to be married on July 26, is also the mother to a 5-year-old boy. A memorial fund has already been created in the woman’s honor.

Following a tragic accident like this, a victim's family may decide to have a thorough investigation completed to determine whether negligence contributed to the fatal accident.

In addition to investigating the factors that contributed to the crash, in this case the family may also want to look into the medical care the woman received.

Fatal accidents are always extremely tragic, but this one is especially so because of the exciting future that was ahead for the accident victim and her family.
